The app that I focused on was Educreations. This app allows the user to write or make drawings and then create an accompanying audio track to explain the image. The recording can then be played back and will appear in real time as the image is created against the backdrop of the accompanying audio.
Teachers and students can store each video as a "lesson" and then access them at a later date. I could imagine myself using this for mini-lessons that focus on individual skills, and I could also imagine having students use the app to create presentations about what they are learning.
On the whole, after experimenting with this app, I imagine I will begin integrating it in my planning as soon as possible. I also look forward to creating materials with this app for future lessons. All that to say, I highly recommend this app!
Wow! After reading about Educreations from your blog and seeing your video I want to give it a try! I think this would be very beneficial as a supplemental aid for students who struggle with grasping various concepts the first time around. A math teacher could record a lesson on there that students could access later, or a student can record their own version of a teachers lesson! I think this would be a great way to take notes or do example problems specifically for math. I think it could also be used for various projects. I think about some of the social studies projects my students have done and I can see this app being used for similar projects. You could have students research a various person, draw a picture of them, and record a biography! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteJames,
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like an awesome app to use in the classroom. After reading about your experience with it, the wheels in my head just starting turning. There are so many opportunities to use this app in the classroom. I think this would work really well for reteaching of a small group of students, or enrichment for students during a whole class reteach! Way to go!
Educreations is a great program for students to show their learning or to create a class "book". Once we had 2nd graders each draw a picture of an ending to a book. We snapped pictures and had them each record their voice. In the end, it was a class book that they were able to access over and over on the iPad. The only limitation to this is that the amount of storage in the free account is very small, sometimes only allowing 1 or 2 projects to be made.
ReplyDeleteGreat post. Educreations seems like a great app! I can definitely use this app in the classroom. As mentioned in the previous comments, I can see this app being used in a variety of subjects, which is great. As I watched your video, I thought about a math teacher allowing their students to use this app to solve a math problem and to explain the steps they took to solve it.
