Twitter is a useful medium for communication and information and can serve to connect the global community for common purposes and interests.
I created a Twitter account years ago after being goaded on to do so by a friend. I only got as far as logging in and after that my Twitter account sat dormant. I am husband and father of two, an avid reader, and an intensely focused hobbyist (current interests: Wood block prints, chainsawing things, studying modern poetry, and writing). These commitments and interests keep me occupied, and when I seek information I typically like to do so in hard copy format using the Illinois Library share system at my school. Books don't need batteries, they don't cost much, and I prefer the aesthetic to digital devices. All that to say, I see twitter primarily as a means of learning and sharing information, but I already feel that I am doing so to the best of my ability.
Am I open to continuing my use of twitter? I think I might be. I have begun to consider during this course, specifically during the digital map assignment, if I ought to participate in social media. I probably will begin to do so, but I haven't chosen a platform yet, and I feel like I probably only have time to use one effectively. See me on twitter @JLob0
