The Proposal...

I am in the midst of designing a technology proposal for my school whereby we would obtain and utilize digital scribe pens with struggling writers. So far the process has gone pretty smooth. I feel like the need is apparent to most teachers, especially lower elementary teachers and the technology is accessible.
Obviously, the biggest challenge is always money. Apart from financing the technology there is also the logistical aspect of deciding which classrooms, and more specifically which students, have the highest need for the technology. I am still excited about my proposal though and believe that if it were implemented well and "tweaked" with along the way it would ultimately be helpful.
One of the most positive aspects of creating this proposal has been considering my students needs when it comes to writing. The technology isn't a "fix-all". It has led me to consider other ways to help my struggling writers. There really haven't been any negative aspects of pursuing this idea apart from securing funding.  Whether you are Technology Specialist, Learning Specialist, or an Instructional Designer I think it is everyone's role to think critically first about how students are learning and then to proceed by selecting technology that suits the needs of each student.
