I have learned a lot and had a lot of time to consider and reflect upon my own role as a technology manager, a technology leader, and an agent of change. One major theme that stuck out was the illustration of the rider, the elephant, and the path. I often think and behave very rationally even in emotionally chargers situations. In considering myself most often the "rider" in instances of implementing and using technology in the classroom, I was able to see others more as the elephant. I can think of many times when I was working with a teacher who I thought was just being resistant to change when it came to using technology, but I see now there may have probably been some emotional aspects of insecurity and inadequacy when it came to using technology in the classroom. In terms of leadership this week I was struck by the value of creating technology leaders at large throughout a school building. I have been thinking more actively of how this might be accomplished and feel that it might be great to promote and or request PD events that center around technology training.
My first impressions of planning and implementing a technology plan have been positive. My plan right now is purely hypothetical, but I have been discussing it with administrators, technology supervisors, and my co-teachers to get feedback as I believe I will actually proceed in securing funding/ resources to pursue this plan. One way that I feel I have grown as I have worked through this project is that I am considering every small detail/ issue that might arise and I am forced to plan accordingly. It reminds me of the special education practice of creating a "task analysis" or a set of distinct steps to perform a simple task. When implementing a wide-scale plan I have truly learned the value of planning for and anticipating every small detail/ issue that might come up.
